Millions of dollars are spent during the spring on various grooming products and tools used for yards and fields in the United States every year. Consumer spending usually begins in April. It’s not just the smell of fresh cut grass that lures consumers to maintain and manicure their yards and landscapes. Manicured landscapes can help raise property values.
This is a lucrative industry and many are interested in selling these types of products. The most popular products can be found on USA Trade Online. Let’s look at which of these products were exported the most and to where.
In 2018, the United States exported $12.6 million in fertilizers, $412.7 billion in lawnmowers, and $11.45 billion in chemical herbicides. The top countries importing these commodities from the United States are found in the tables below.
The data come from using the first four or six digits of the Schedule B number, also known as Schedule B heading and subheading. Fertilizer is under the Schedule B heading 3104, “Mineral or chemical fertilizers, potassic;” lawnmowers are under the subheading 8433.11, “Mowers for lawns, parks or sports grounds;” and herbicides and plant growth chemicals are under the subheading 3808.59, “Insecticides, rodenticides, fungicides, herbicides, antisprouting products and plant-growth regulators.” For additional information on Schedule B numbers, please read the Finding Your Schedule B Number blog.
